For several months, the media has been referring to the Telecom Industry as “Big Wireless” and comparing them to “Big Tobacco” and “Big Oil.”  Most Americans realize that isn’t a good thing for anyone but Big Wireless and those who profit from them. Current Federal Communications Commission Chair, Ajit Pai, is a former Telecom attorney.  He and other FCC commissioners seem hell bent on helping Telecoms install millions of small cell towers in front of homes and throughout communities to win what has been described even by tech people as awful – the “Race for 5G.

Now we’re learning that current AG nominee, William Barr, has a long history working for the telecoms too:

After his tenure at the Department of Justice, Barr spent more than 14 years as a senior corporate executive. At the end of 2008 he retired from Verizon Communications, having served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of GTE Corporation from 1994 until that company merged with Bell Atlantic to become Verizon. During his corporate tenure, Barr directed a successful litigation campaign by the local telephone industry to achieve deregulation by scuttling a series of FCC rules, personally arguing several cases in the federal courts of appeals and the Supreme Court.[26]

GTE stands for General Telephone & Electronics Corporation which was one of the largest independent telephone companies during the days of the Bell System.

Didn’t President Trump promise to drain “The Swamp”?  Having Barr as AG seems more like re-stocking it.  Don’t we already have too many elected officials and government employees protecting Big Wireless instead of the American people?
